How to Post a Free ad?

Here is a quick way of posting an ad.

You need to Login to post your ad.

After logging in, click on "Post your ad" link.

Select the Category & Sub Category of your choice.

Select a City (Single city) in which you would like to list your ad.

Click on the Radio Button of "FREE AD" to post a free ad.

Enter the Ad Content in the prescribed fields. Then click on "Post Free Ad". You will receive a confirmation message after your ad is posted.

How long does my free Ad stay online?

Free Ads stay online for a month after they have been posted online. If you wish to remove your Ad from the listings, logon to My classifieds and disable your free Ad.

How many free Ads can I post?

Each registered member of Sulekha is eligible to post 3 free Ads for any individual reason. To post the fourth Ad, login to your account at http://classifieds.sulekha.com/myclassifieds.aspx and disable 1 of your 3 active Ads.

How to make changes to my ad?

Here is the procedure to add a picture to your ad.

You need to login to edit your ad.

After logging in to ' My Classifieds', select your relevant ad and click on "Edit" link..

How do I add picture to my ad?

Here is the procedure to add a picture to your ad.

To add Picture to your ad click on the link below http://classifieds.sulekha.com/myclassifieds.aspx

You need to login to edit your ad.

After logging in, click on "Edit" link given in My Classifieds.x

Click on "Click here to Upload Photo" (The maximum file size for the photo is 15 KB)

A Pop up box with a Confirmation Message "Photo Uploaded Successfully" will appear on the screen.

Click on OK button and click on "Save" for the changes to reflect online immediately

How long will it take for my Ad to appear online?

Your Ad will appear online within 2 hours of posting.

Where do I find my ad online?

Click here to find your ad http://classifieds.sulekha.com/advancedsearch.aspx

Type a Key word in the Search bar

Select the City & Category in which you have listed the ad

Click on "Start Search" to locate your ad online

How to post a Paid ad?

Go to http://classifieds.sulekha.com/

Click on "Post your ad" link

You need to login to post a Paid ad.

Select the Category and Sub Category of your choice

Select a City (Single city) of your choice

Select the Duration of the ad.

Fill in the blank fields as needed & click on "Select Payment option"

Choose your Payment Option Method & Click on "Review Purchase"

Review your information and click on "Buy Now" to complete the posting.

How do I pay for my ad?

We accept all Major Credit Cards. All transactions take place on a Secure Server.

At present we do not accept Checks/Money Orders.

Important: Never give out your Credit Card info to a site in a form that is not on a secure server. Make sure that the URL address begins with https.

Note: You will receive an automated Order Receipt for the orders placed in Sulekha Classifieds.

How do I upgrade my free ad to Paid ad?

To upgrade your free ad, click on the link below http://classifieds.sulekha.com/myclassifieds.aspx

You need to login to update your free ad.

After logging in, select your ad and click on "Upgrade" link displayed in My Classifieds.

Click on the duration of the ad as per your choice. Then click on "Select payment option"

You will be taken to the Payment Option page. Click on "Submit" after entering payment details.

You will be taken to the Order Receipt page & Click on "Buy Now" to complete the posting process.

Is there a possibility that my Ad might be blocked at any instance?

If you are a registered Sulekha user, you are eligible to post 3 free Ads for any individual reason.To post the fourth Ad, login to your account and disable anyone of your 3 active Ads.

Ads promoting business that fall under the following 'Offered' category: Jobs - Software Training (US) and Immigration may be blocked. Immoral and repeated Ads are also blocked.

What is a Business Ad & what is an Individual Ad?

Sulekha Classifieds requires business ads to be paid, while all individual ads are FREE. (and can optionally be paid for better responses)

Individual ads are those that seek to buy or sell or inform Sulekha users of their personal property. Example: Selling your house, buying a second-hand automobile, looking for a driver/cook etc are the stuff that personal needs / individual needs are made of.

Or one more way of looking at it, is the fact that individual needs are transient - and come when you have something to buy or sell or inform. However if your need is on a regular, day-after-day basis, it is a business ad. Example: Person buying or selling flats on a regular basis, Person collecting antiques on a regular basis are business ads.

Sulekha seeks to make a transaction fee for listing the Business Ad, whilst individual ads are free. Businesses or Individuals that need a steady set of customers or vendors from Sulekha's vast user base can pay a transaction fee starting from as low as $10 in the U.S. and Rs.250/- in India depending on the city and category.

What are Sponsored Ads & Premium Ads?

Sponsored & Premium Ads are listings for which business users or individuals have paid Sulekha to ensure that their listings attain greater visibility in search results.

As we at Sulekha offer a free service for individuals, we charge for Sponsored and Premium Ads where we promise better visibility and responses for a longer duration of time. Sponsored & Premium Ads are given first preference after which free Ads are displayed.

I am not able to login to My Classifieds page?

One possibility is that the cookies on your computer may not be enabled and so the system was not able to log you in and because of this you were redirected to the home page. To log into your Sulekha account the session cookies must be enabled.

Please follow these steps to enable cookies on your computer.

Open Internet Explorer browser

Select the TOOLS menu.

Select INTERNET OPTIONS

Click on the ADVANCED BUTTON (it's along with 2 other buttons called "Import" and "Default")

Here you will find a check box with caption "OVER RIDE AUTOMATIC COOKIE HANDLING", select it. When selected, all the options below it will be enabled.

Make sure the checkbox which says "ALWAYS ALLOW SESSION COOKIES" is also selected.

When done, press "OK" button and quit.

Close the browser and open a new browser window and try logging in. You will able to login now..

If you are not able to login after following the above given steps please send a mail to classifieds@sulekha.net and clearly mention your login id or the link of your ad.

I cannot see my ad in My Classifieds?

You may not see your ad in My Classifieds for the following reasons:

Ensure that you have really posted an ad. This page shows only the ads you have posted.

You may have deleted the ad using the delete link in My Classifieds page.

If you chose to renew or upgrade , the ad will be hidden until the payment is made.

How do I Remove/Delete my Ad?

Logon to 'My Classifieds' at http://classifieds.sulekha.com/myclassifieds.aspx

Login using your username & password.

Select the Ad to delete.

Click on the Disable button to remove your Ad.

How to respond to an ad?

Click on any ad to respond

You can also respond to multiple Ads at one shot. Select the checkbox against the relevant Ads, then click on "Email Advertiser".

Fill in the details in the response box.

Click on "Submit" to send response to an ad

How to view responses of my ad?

Click on the link below to view responses of your ad http://classifieds.sulekha.com/myclassifieds.aspx

You need to login to view responses.

Click on "Email Responses" to check for the email responses of your ad

To reply to email responses click on "Click here to reply"

How to Check the Ad performance of my ad?

You need to login for the same.

Click on "Performance Report"

You will find an option to select the dates (calendar), to view Ad Performance Report for the duration you have selected

How to avail the Inbox facility?

Note: If you have already created an account in classifieds as name@sulekha.com for posting an ad in classifieds, or for responding to the ads posted in classifieds, you have to re-register your login id, following the steps:

Click on the link http://email.sulekha.com/email/scripts/loginuser.pl to avail the Inbox facility

Click on Sign up Now! for an email account@sulekha.com

Fill in all the required fields and click "Continue" to complete registration process

You can check your responses in the inbox at Sulekha.

What does "Save this Ad to My Favorites" mean?

You can click on "Save this Ad to My Favorites" for future retrieval

Click on "Save this Ad to My Favorites" in the ad Display page, that you want to add to your "My Favorites"

You will get a Confirmation message which reads as "... has been saved in My favorites, Continue Browsing"

Click on "My Searches" in My Classifieds to view all the ads that you have bookmarked earlier (to keep a track of all the ads that you are interested in).

Click on "Continue Browsing" to return back to the Ad Display page

What is "Forward to a Friend"?

"Forward to a Friend" helps in sending informative ads to your friends

Click on "Forward to a friend" in the ad display page

Enter a Valid email id in "Your friend's email address" box

Separate email address by "Semi Colon" to forward the ad, to multiple recipients

Click on "Send Mail" to forward the ad

An automated email will be sent to your friend with the ad link

What is "My Alerts"?

This feature creates a search agent that will notify you via email if a new ad is listed that matches what you are looking for.

Example 1: An alert for keyword of roommate in New York will get you a daily email with New York ads containing the word roommate.

To set an alert click on the link http://classifieds.sulekha.com/setalert.aspx

Give a name in the "Alert Name" field

Select the Region and City of your choice

Type a Key Word, for example "2 Bedroom Flat" in the Search Text field

Choose Daily, Weekly or Monthly from the drop down of Alert Frequency to receive alert mails

Give your comments in the Comments box if required

You will find the following Confirmation Message "You have subscribed to receive Email alerts of 'Real Estate'" with the keyword "2 bedroom flat" You can also view these ads at My Alerts

Click on "My Alerts" to view all the alerts you have set

Click on "Edit" if you want to make any changes for your alert

Click on "Unsubscribe" to delete your alert

What is "Flagging"?

Sulekha.com is frequented by thousands of visitors everyday and lots of ads are posted online.

With flagging a listing you can indicate that:
- The ad is spam
- The ad is selling or offering illegal items
- The ad appears to be fake
- The ad is using inappropriate language
- The ad is in the wrong category

How to Flag

On each Ad detail page you will find a link labelled "Mark as Spam / Inappropriate"

What will happen to flagged listings?

Once a listing has been flagged a certain amount of times, it will be suspended from the site until it has been examined by our team. If you think you would like to tell us more about why a particular listing should be removed, mail us. Before the listing is completely removed, the advertiser can modify their ad but classifieds.sulekha.com will always have the final word.

What is "RSS"?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. (Also known as web feeds)

RSS is a popular technology employed by websites and weblogs to push content directly to users. Also known as web feeds, it saves the user from having to making daily trips to numerous websites for fresh content that is of interest to him.

How can you use RSS feeds?

In most Web browsers, clicking on an RSS feed will simply give you a screen full of code called XML. To make sense of it, you'll need to follow either of these two options:

Option 1: RSS News Readers

Most of these, work from home plans, need you to spend your own money to get the supplies or equipment, to do the job. You may also end up paying for instructions or "tutorial" software.

Beware of such ads Genuine work from home programs tell you in writing about what's involved in the program they are selling. You may want to ask a few questions as these:

What tasks will I have to perform? (Ask the program sponsor to list every step of the job.)

Will I be paid a salary or will my pay be based on commission?

When will I get my first paycheck?

What is the total cost of the work from home program, including supplies, equipment and membership fees? What will I get for my money?

2. Health and Diet Scams

For those who are health conscious and are looking out ways to stay fit, beware! Health and diet scams are working out ways to reach you. You may find ads online about pills that let you lose weight without exercising or changing your diet, herbal formulas that liquefy your fat cells so that they are absorbed by your body, cures for impotence and hair loss. This is just another scam waiting to flood your email boxes.

Remember The fact is that successful weight loss requires a reduction in calories and an increase in physical activity. Do not go by case histories from "cured" consumers claiming amazing results; testimonials from "famous" medical experts you've never heard of; claims that the product is available from only one source or for a limited time; and ads that use phrases like "scientific breakthrough," "miraculous cure," "exclusive product," "secret formula," and "ancient ingredient."
